Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a 3D imaging technology that creates highly detailed views of your teeth, jaw bones, nerves and surrounding tissues. It's used for implant planning, complex root canals, surgical assessment and airway evaluation.

What's the difference between OPG and CBCT?

An OPG is a 2D panoramic image showing all your teeth and jaws in one view. A CBCT is a 3D scan giving much greater detail in three dimensions. OPGs are routine; CBCTs are used when 3D detail is needed.

Is the radiation dose safe?

Modern OPG and CBCT systems use very low radiation doses. CBCT delivers more than a standard X-ray but still much less than a medical CT scan. We only recommend it when the clinical benefit clearly outweighs the dose.

How long does a scan take?

Both OPG and CBCT scans are quick - usually 15-30 seconds of actual scanning time. The whole appointment is typically under 10 minutes.
