A five minute drive from Cammeray

Cammeray is compact in a way most of the lower North Shore is not. The Square holds the shops, the cafes and the chemist within a couple of hundred metres, Tunks Park sits down in the valley below, and the Cammeray Golf Club edges the suburb on the other side. It is the sort of place where people do the week on foot and only start the car when they need to leave.

There is no train station in Cammeray, so leaving usually means Miller Street or the freeway. That is worth knowing when you are choosing a dentist, because the trip matters more than the map suggests.

From Cammeray Square it is approximately 1.7 km to us, around 5 minutes straight down Miller Street and onto the Pacific Highway outside the school peak. For most of Cammeray that is a shorter run than crossing toward North Sydney, and short enough to make a whole-family afternoon realistic.

Dr Viki Karassellos treating a patient at Nest Dental, dentist serving Cammeray families

Dr Viki Karassellos looks after many of the Cammeray families who book the children and the parents into one afternoon. Our dentists have each been practising for more than 25 years, and Cammeray patients stay with the dentist they choose rather than seeing whoever happens to be free.

Why Cammeray patients choose Nest Dental

Closer to Cammeray Square than most people think

Plenty of Cammeray residents assume their nearest full service practice is over toward North Sydney or across the Warringah Freeway. From Cammeray Square it is approximately 1.7 km to our door, around 5 minutes down Miller Street and onto the Pacific Highway. That is a shorter trip than the drive most Cammeray households already make for the weekly shop.

Built around Cammeray family life

The streets between Cammeray Square, Tunks Park and the Cammeray Golf Club are full of households with school-aged children and long-settled parents. We block-book families so one trip covers everybody, run after school, evening and Saturday appointments, and give you a realistic finish time before you leave home so the rest of the Cammeray afternoon still works.

The same dentist, year after year

Continuity is the point. You keep the dentist you started with rather than seeing whoever is free, so a small change in a Cammeray child's bite or an old filling that is starting to shift gets picked up by someone who already knows your history. Our dentists have each been practising for more than 25 years.

Judgement-free care and claiming at the desk

Some Cammeray patients come in after years away, often because a practice they liked closed or the family dentist retired. There will be no lecture about the gap. We settle anything sore first, work forward on prevention, claim your health fund rebate on the spot through HICAPS, and are a preferred provider with NIB, CBHS, TUH, Union Health and smile.com.au, which may reduce out of pocket costs on routine care.

Family dental care that suits the Cammeray week

Between weekend sport at Tunks Park, school drop-off and a quick stop at Cammeray Square, most local families have one usable window a week. We would rather use it properly than spread four separate appointments across a month, so we group bookings and confirm a realistic finish time before you leave the house.

For children, the first visit is deliberately low key: a count of the teeth, a ride in the chair and nothing further if that is the limit for the day. Cammeray parents often bring a younger sibling along to watch, which makes their own turn far easier when it comes.

For longer-settled Cammeray residents, and there are many given how rarely houses here change hands, we are usually reviewing decades of earlier dental work. We assess what is still holding up before suggesting anything be replaced, put costs in writing beforehand, and can stage larger treatment across health fund years rather than in one hit.

Where to park

Cammeray patients are used to the tight parking around the Square, so this part is easier than home. There is metered street parking on the side streets off the Pacific Highway, and the Forum precinct parking stations are a few minutes walk away if the street spaces fill up at hospital changeover.

By bus

Cammeray has no train station, so the bus is the alternative to driving. Services along Miller Street run toward Crows Nest and St Leonards, which suits patients having treatment where driving straight home is not ideal. Stops on the highway near the hospital leave a short walk to reception.

Yes, and Cammeray households are one of our steadier groups of regulars. Children are welcome from their very first tooth, and we routinely book siblings back to back so one trip down Miller Street covers the whole family. Because Cammeray has no dental practice inside the village itself, parents tell us they would rather do school pick-up, the Square, and the dental visit in the same afternoon than split them across the week.

Yes. You choose a dentist at your first appointment and stay with them, which matters in a suburb like Cammeray where people often stay in the same street for twenty years. Our dentists have each been practising for more than 25 years, and plenty of Cammeray families have the parents, the children and sometimes the grandparents all seeing the same person.

Call us on 02 9436 1874 and describe what has happened. We hold time free every day for same-day emergency appointments, and the 5 minute run from Cammeray Square means you are not sitting on a cracked tooth over a weekend. If a tooth has been knocked out at Tunks Park or on the sports field, keep it in milk and bring it with you, along with any broken pieces.
