A six minute drive from Greenwich

Greenwich has always felt a little separate from the rest of the lower North Shore. The peninsula narrows down past the Greenwich Road shops towards Greenwich Point, the Baths sit tucked below the headland, and there is no railway line running through any of it. People come to Greenwich for that, then organise the rest of the week around a car.

It also means there is no dentist on the peninsula. Every Greenwich household drives or catches a bus somewhere for a check-up, so the practical question is not whether to travel but how short the trip can be.

Up Greenwich Road and along River Road, we are approximately 2 km away on the Pacific Highway, around 6 minutes outside the school peak. For most of Greenwich that is closer than the practice they were using before, and it makes booking the whole family into one afternoon realistic.

Dr Diana Arcila looks after many of the Greenwich families who book the children and the parents into the same afternoon. Our dentists have each been practising for more than 25 years, and Greenwich patients stay with the dentist they choose rather than seeing whoever is free.

Why Greenwich patients choose Nest Dental

A short drive off the peninsula

Greenwich sits on a peninsula with no train station, so getting anywhere starts with the car or a bus along River Road. From Greenwich Point it is approximately 2 km to our door, around 6 minutes up Greenwich Road and across to the Pacific Highway. We give parking directions when we confirm your appointment, because the difference between circling the highway and pulling straight into the Forum car park is the whole trip.

Built around Greenwich families

The streets between Greenwich Road and the Baths are full of households who have been there a long time, often with children at Greenwich Public and grandparents still nearby. We book families in blocks so one drive off the peninsula covers everybody, and we hold after school, evening and Saturday appointments for the weeks where a mid-morning visit is out of the question.

The same dentist, visit after visit

Continuity matters more in a suburb like Greenwich, where we often see the same family for years and watch children go from their first check-up to their first set of adult molars. You keep the dentist you started with, so small changes get noticed early rather than being found by someone meeting your teeth for the first time.

Judgement-free care and on the spot claiming

Some Greenwich patients come in after years away, often because a practice they liked closed or moved across the bridge. We will not lecture you about the gap. We deal with anything sore first, focus on prevention from there, claim health fund rebates at the desk through HICAPS, and are a preferred provider with NIB, CBHS, TUH, Union Health and smile.com.au, which may reduce out of pocket costs on routine care.

Family dental care that suits the Greenwich week

Between swimming at Greenwich Baths in summer, sport at the oval and the drive out to school and work, most Greenwich families have exactly one spare window a week. We would rather use it well than spread four appointments across a month, so we group bookings and give you a realistic finish time before you leave home.

For children, the first visit is deliberately low key: a count of the teeth, a ride in the chair and nothing more if that is all they will tolerate. Greenwich parents often bring a younger sibling along to watch, which makes their own first appointment much easier when it comes.

For longer-term Greenwich residents, we tend to be reviewing decades of previous work. We assess what is still holding up before recommending anything be replaced, set out costs in writing beforehand, and can stage larger treatment across health fund years instead of one lump.

Where to park

Greenwich patients almost always drive, so parking is worth planning. There is metered street parking on the side streets running off the Pacific Highway, and the Forum precinct parking stations are a few minutes walk from our door if the street spaces are full at hospital changeover.

By bus

Buses running along River Road connect Greenwich to St Leonards without needing a train, which suits patients having treatment where driving home is not ideal. The stops on the highway near the hospital leave you a short walk from reception.

Yes, and Greenwich families make up a good share of our regulars. Because the peninsula has no dental practice of its own, parents tend to book everyone in one trip rather than driving off Greenwich Road twice in a week. Children are welcome at any age for a first look, and we schedule after school and Saturday appointments so a visit does not cost anyone a day off.

Yes. Greenwich is a suburb where people stay put for decades, and we think dental care should work the same way. You choose a dentist at your first appointment and stay with them, so nobody is re-reading your history from scratch. Our dentists have each been practising for more than 25 years, and families often have the parents and the children with the same person.

Yes. Call us on 02 9436 1874 and tell us what has happened. We keep time free every day for same-day emergency appointments, and the short drive from the Greenwich peninsula means you are not waiting out a weekend in pain. If a tooth has been knocked out, keep it in milk and bring it in, and bring any broken pieces with you.
